Cilas (2012 Male Okatee Corn Snake)
Lived from 2012 to 2016
Cilas was a male Okatee Corn Snake.
He used to belong to a friend and co-worker of mine named Becca. Becca was going through some life changes and I offered to watch Cilas for her for a bit.
On September 26th 2015, She accepted my offer to take him to my house and take care of him for her. On October 6th, I was given the opportunity to adopt him as Becca's life had taken a different direction. Cilas thus became the star of many shows and birthday parties.
Cilas enjoyed digging up his tank, and enjoyed eating frozen thawed small rats. He also never passes on snacks. He was estimated to have been born in 2012 and was about 6 feet long.
Cilas passed away unexpectedly without any signs of illness or injury on November 9th 2016. He was well loved and enjoyed all the attention he was getting. He was my first non-python snake as well as my first corn snake and will be missed dearly. Rest in peace buddy!
Violet (2011 Female Salmon Boa Constrictor)
Lived from 2011 to 2016
Violet was a female Salmon Boa, a form of hypo morph.
She came to me from someone who had purchased her not long prior but her living conditions had caused her to be ill. After a few negotiations, I was able to welcome this cute lady home on May 8th 2016, on a mother's day.
When I got her, she was quite ill, and kept her mouth open. She had lost many of her teeth and had not eaten in a while. I had been treating her health concerns since the day she came home.
Her birth year was estimated to about 2011. Violet could have eaten full size rats and maybe even smaller rabbits. She normally had a good appetite if it wasn't for her mouth bothering her so much.
She had a unique personality and really could not stand the smell of her own poo, to the point where she will squish herself as far away in the opposite direction if she had too until it is removed.
Violet passed away peacefully on the morning of October 13th 2016 while getting loved. She was energetic to the very last day as she tried to fight off her mouth infection. She had lost a lot of weight despite attempts at force feeding. She will be in our memories and our hearts for a long time. Rest in Peace!
Casper (2013 Male Pastel Ball Python)
Lived from 2013 to 2016
Casper was a male Pastel Ball Python.
I had obtained him by responding to a Kijiji add posted by a nice fellow by the name of Nan. Nan needed to re-home Casper, formerly known as “Ghost” (named after a mark on his neck), because he was moving back to China and could not take his snake with him.
Because Nan lived in Calgary, I had to acquire the help of my friends Andrew and his wife Tasha to pick him up for me as I work too much.
On November 16th, 2015 Casper made it to his new home after a nice long 4 hour car ride from Calgary.
Casper was about 3 years old and was estimated to have been born in 2013. Casper prefered to eat medium frozen thawed rats.
In mid February 2016, Casper acquired an unknown illness with no apparent reason. The symptoms include loss of color, neurological issues (stargaizing, "spider wobble", head loopings). He lost control and strength in his head and neck. and had twitches at the top of head. He also had a fiber/cotton-like substance being excreted from between his scales. He eventually became completely flaccid with odd muscle contractions travelling up his body. Casper visited a vet and was placed on Prednisone with little to no effect. On march 6th 2016, he lost his battle to this disease and passed away peacefully overnight. He will be greatly missed and remembered.
Sanders (2012Male Noramal Columbian Boa Constrictor)
Lived from 2012 to 2016
Sanders was a male Regular Columbian Boa Constrictor, he also was het albino. He looked like a red tail boa, but had a black tail and was darker in color.
He gave us quite a fright upon arriving to my collection on January 14th 2016. He had acquired a bit of a cold during his transport from Salmo, BC. He was salivating lots, and was in the middle of a shed. he was also skin and bones.
He was a rescued snake and had gone a long time without eating so he was quite skinny. The hope was that when he was better, he would be eating frozen/thawed jumbo rats.
Sanders was estimated to be born in 2012. he had a great loud hiss and knew what he liked.
We have named him Sanders due to a black mustache shaped pattern on his upper lip and a black triangle pattern on his lower lip, resembling colonel Sanders of the famous chicken franchise KFC.
Sanders passed away February 8th 2016 peacefully in his sleep. He had started acquiring some energy but had refused to eat despite all best efforts. It is believed that he suffered from intestinal shut down secondary to malnutrition. He also had a severe bowel impaction witch was resolved but unfortunately not before causing his intestines to shut down.
Sanders will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Rest in Peace!
